Trek for Ukraine is an outdoor event organized by Global Conservation and its partners, taking place from August 16 to 31, 2025, in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania and Ukraine. The event aims to gather thousands of participants to promote peace, support Ukraine’s recovery, and contribute to the sustainable development of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
Since 2014, Ukraine has been defending itself against Russia’s invasion, standing up for shared Western values. Supporting Ukraine is crucial not only for its future but for the stability of Europe and the wider world. Despite immense challenges, the courage of the Ukrainian people, combined with international aid, offers hope for the country’s reunification and rebuilding. Global Conservation has been actively supporting Ukraine's national parks, protecting its wilderness, and contributing to conservation efforts.
This event will unite trekkers, mountain bikers, and horse riders to explore the breathtaking Carpathians while standing in solidarity with Ukraine. Participants will directly support conservation and local communities, helping preserve the region’s unique culture and natural beauty. Sighetu Marmației hosts two vibrant annual festivals — the Floare de Coț Festival, a two-day music event featuring around 10 bands, and the Medieval Festival, celebrating folk traditions with costumes, music, dancing, and local cuisine. Both festivals take place in late summer, bringing the city to life with culture and joy. Detailed programs are usually released in June or July, and we’ll keep an eye on their social media for updates.
Between these two festivals, you’ll find a wide variety of trekking opportunities — from Carpathian National Nature Park, Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, and Verkhovyna National Nature Park in Ukraine, to Maramureș Mountains National Park and Rodna Mountains National Park in Romania. Don’t miss the breathtaking Perkalaba Gorge along the way. Be sure to sign up and book your adventure with Trek for Ukraine!
