• Medieval Festival

The 14th edition of the Medieval Festival in Sighetu Marmației will unfold over two immersive days – August 30–31 – transforming the town into a vibrant scene from the Middle Ages. Held in the charming Parcul „Grădina Morii” and the Central Park, this immersive celebration showcases medieval parades, knightly battles, and living-history camps. Wander through historical reenactments, visit the open-air market of crafts and traditional merchants, and explore engaging exhibitions such as “Medievalum”, displaying authentic armor, weaponry, and relics from historical films.

  • Experience a rich blend of cultural performances and hands-on workshops: learn archery and swordplay in the “school for young knights,” admire majestic medieval costumes in the grand opening parade, and enjoy enchanting music and dance from folk ensembles and troubadours of the Maramureș region. Evening concerts and dramatic combat demonstrations round out the festival’s spirited atmosphere, building a true medieval ambience for all ages.

Visiting the Medieval Festival on August 30–31 not only immerses you in centuries-old traditions — it also supports local artisans, performers, and Maramureș tourism.

  • The festival features outdoor food stands serving delicious traditional Romanian cuisine, offering visitors a taste of the region’s authentic flavors while enjoying the open-air atmosphere.
